Password Cracking with Brute Force Algorithm and Dictionary Attack Using Parallel Programming

چکیده
Studying password-cracking techniques is essential in the information security discipline as it highlights vulnerability of weak passwords and need for stronger measures to protect sensitive information. While both methods aim uncover passwords, approach task different ways. A brute force algorithm generates all possible combinations characters a specified range length, while dictionary attack checks against predefined word list. This study compares efficiency these using parallel versions Python, C++, Hashcat. The results show that NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with CUDA significantly faster than Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 GPU cracking speedup 11.5× 10.4× without special characters, respectively. Special increase time, making process more challenging. our implementation indicate processing greatly improves speed techniques. achieved 1.9× six cores, showed 4.4× eight-core static scheduling. passwords.

متن کاملOffline Dictionary Attack on Password Authentication Schemes Using Smart Cards
The design of secure and efficient smart-card-based password authentication schemes remains a challenging problem today despite two decades of intensive research in the security community, and the current crux lies in how to achieve truly two-factor security even if the smart cards can be tampered. In this paper, we analyze two recent proposals, namely, Hsieh-Leu’s scheme and Wang’s PSCAV schem...
متن کاملFlow-based Brute-force Attack Detection
Brute-force attacks are a prevalent phenomenon that is getting harder to successfully detect on a network level due to increasing volume and encryption of network traffic and growing ubiquity of high-speed networks. Although the research in this field advanced considerably, there still remain classes of attacks that are undetectable. In this chapter, we present several methods for the detection...
متن کاملBrute Force Attack on UNIX Passwords with SIMD Computer
As computer technology improves, the security of specific ciphers and one-way hash functions periodically must be reevaluated in light of new technological advances. In this paper we evaluate the security of the UNIX password scheme. We show that the UNIX password scheme is vulnerable to brute-force attack. Using PixelFlow, a SIMD parallel machine, we are able to “crack” a large fraction of pas...
